Description: The Floating Gardens of Xochimilco in southern Mexico City are a maze of canals through a once large fresh marsh. Emergent marsh of scirpus/rushes fringe the banks of the canals. Cattails also are prevalent. Exotic aquatic floating vegetation of water hyacinth fill the side canals. The exotic eucalyptus tree is the dominant forest tree.
