Description: Emergent freshwater marsh of cattails, Scirpus spp., Velvetleaf, and burningbush. Refuge is managed for shorebirds, wading birds, and migratory waterfowl. The area is actively managed for open water and wetland emergent marsh habitat communities. After two years of severe drought the pools dried out and were overtaken by cattail and burningbush. The water present is from 5 inches of rain in the past three days.
